Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 30, 2026

This is a personal site where I write about AI in education and share free tools. I collect as little personal information as possible, I don’t sell it, and I don’t run advertising trackers. This page explains what I do collect, why, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • If you join the newsletter, I store your email (and your first name, if you give it) so I can send you occasional updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • If you use an interactive tool, the text or drawing you submit is sent to an AI provider to generate your result. I don’t build a profile of you from it.
  • I use privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics to understand which pages are useful. No advertising or cross-site tracking.

Newsletter signups

When you subscribe, I collect your email address and, optionally, your first name and whether you identify as a teacher, school leader, or both. I also record which page you signed up from so I can group subscribers sensibly. This information is stored with my email provider, Kit (formerly ConvertKit), and is used only to send you occasional updates when I publish something new. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask me to delete your details entirely at any time.

Interactive tools

Some tools on this site send what you type to an AI model to produce a result:

  • The AI Lesson Plan Analyzer sends the lesson text you paste to an AI provider (Anthropic’s Claude, with Google’s Gemini as a fallback) to generate feedback and a redesign.
  • The Magic Chalkboard sends your prompt and drawing to Google’s Gemini image model to create an image.

I don’t require an account to use these tools and I don’t store the submissions to identify you. Please don’t paste sensitive personal information or student records into them. To keep the tools available and prevent abuse, I temporarily process your IP address for rate limiting; it isn’t used to track you. The AI providers process submissions under their own privacy terms.

Contacting me

The contact and speaking buttons open your own email app addressed to chris@chrismeehan.com. If you email me, I’ll have whatever you choose to include in that message, and I’ll keep it only as long as needed to reply and follow up.

Analytics and cookies

I use Vercel Analytics, which measures aggregate page traffic without cookies and without building a cross-site profile of you. This site doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Your light/dark theme preference is saved in your browser’s local storage so the site remembers it; that never leaves your device.

Service providers

The site is hosted on Vercel. Newsletter data lives with Kit, and tool submissions are processed by Anthropic and Google as described above. These providers handle data on my behalf under their own privacy policies. I don’t sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

Children’s privacy

These resources are built for educators and school leaders, not for children. The tools aren’t intended for use by students under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email. To access, correct, or delete any information I hold about you, just email me at chris@chrismeehan.com and I’ll take care of it.

Changes to this policy

If I change how the site handles data, I’ll update this page and revise the date above. Significant changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
